Hello, and welcome to Coffee, Chaos & Characters!

I'm Melinda Aubrey, author of Whispering Hope, the first book in my Legacy Series, and creator of The Squirrel Chaos Container, an ADHD-friendly writing journal for creative minds.

I love stories filled with complicated characters, unexpected twists, romance, suspense, and just enough attitude to keep everybody on their toes. My characters occasionally cooperate with me. Usually, they have other plans.

Outside of writing, I'm a mom, grandma, animal lover, handbag enthusiast, shoe collector, and proud owner of a sarcastic sense of humor. My pets have opinions, my coffee is essential, and my brain has approximately 47 projects running at any given moment.

That last part is how The Squirrel Chaos Container happened. What started as an attempt to organize my writing turned into an entirely new publishing adventure, complete with Wilbert, our caffeine-powered squirrel and self-appointed Chief Chaos Officer.

Then there's Herbert, the imaginary, taco-obsessed tapeworm who somehow became Snack Supervisor.

I don't remember hiring either of them.

Coffee, Chaos & Characters is where I share the wonderfully messy reality of being an independent author: writing novels, creating journals, navigating self-publishing, celebrating small victories, and occasionally wondering what possessed me to start another project.
